Remember dial-up?
If any comic in the PCW cannon really feels dated, it’s today’s installment. Back in the day, well before cable Internet and DSL, one had to resort to using a regular telephone-interfacing modem to connect to the pre-Interwebs. Many households shared a single line for voice and data (such as it was when I lived at home with my parents) - and when Mom or Dad picked up the receiver while I happened to be online - I’d instantly get thrown off the web.
This was back during the day when a 2 MB file would take an hour and a half to download on a 2400 baud modem. We’ve got it so good today…
